Tszyu explained the reluctance of Russians to pay for broadcasts by the peculiarities of the mentality

Former world boxing champion Kostya Tszyu shared his opinion on the unpopularity of paid sports broadcasts in Russia. The interview with the athlete was published in RBC.

The 52-year-old ex-champion believed that the Russian viewer needed to be taught the legal consumption of content. Tszyu also explained the Russians’ reluctance to pay for the broadcasts.

“The Russian mentality is geared towards freebies. Even if it is of poor quality, ”he explained. Tszyu also added that in order to combat piracy, it is necessary to work better with the viewer and attract a new audience. According to his forecasts, paid broadcasts will become the norm in Russia in 10-15 years.

Tszyu competed in the first welterweight division. He became the World Boxing Association (WBA), World Boxing Council (WBC) and International Boxing Federation (IBF) world champion. He won 31 wins, two defeats and one draw in professional boxing.
