Ancelotti praises Benzema’s marks for Real Madrid

O Real Madrid thrashed Elche 4-0 this Wednesday, with two goals from Karim Benzema, in the postponed game of the 21st round of the Spanish Championship, a victory that puts the merengue team eight points behind leader Barcelona.

Marco Asensio opened the scoring with an individual move (8′), Benzema doubled the score by scoring twice from the penalty spot (31′ and 45’+1) and Luka Modric closed the rout (80′) to prevent Barça from slipping further down the table .

With the two goals scored, Benzema became Real Madrid’s second-highest scorer in LaLiga with 230, surpassing former striker Raúl González (228) and trailing only Cristiano Ronaldo (312).

“Karim is building a fantastic career. I hope he can continue like this because ‘madridismo’ demands this level”, said the coach of the merengue team, Carlo Ancelotti, to the DAZN platform.

The scoreline was a reflection of the technical difference between the teams, with Real Madrid dominating the duel from start to finish.

Elche, which with the result remains at the bottom, with only one victory in the 21 rounds played so far, suffered with the rises of Benzema and Rodrygo, which gave work to goalkeeper Edgar Badía.

“It was a good game, well controlled. We opened the scoring early, then we controlled it well, we had many opportunities. It was a good game at a crucial moment of the season”, said Ancelotti.

Real Madrid hardly felt the absence of Brazilian striker Vinícius Júnior, who served a suspension and was replaced by Asensio.

The team reached Elche’s goal with ease, very fragile in defense, and defined the victory without scares in the first half, going into the break with 3-0 on the scoreboard.

In the final minutes of the second half, the team slowed down and Modric, who had come on for Federico Valverde (68′), scored the fourth goal, hitting hard, with no chances for Badía.
