Expert: Kostomarov’s treatment regimen is the only possible way to save his life
The treatment regimen for Olympic champion in ice dancing Roman Kostomarov is the only one possible to save his life. Sergey Tsarenko, director of the National Medical Research Center “Treatment and Rehabilitation Center” of the Russian Ministry of Health, said this in an interview with TASS.
The expert called this tactic optimal and having its own price.
“There is a clear positive trend in terms of relief (decrease in the degree of approx. “Tapes.ru”) respiratory and renal failure. Not all threats have been lifted yet, but there is a serious chance that the patient will survive,” he explained.
Tsarenko also said that Kostomarov was transferred to a hospital in Kommunarka, as during the COVID-19 pandemic, relevant experience was developed there: specialists who have repeatedly encountered patients who needed artificial lung ventilation and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation, and their competence is undeniable.
In addition, the director of the research center was outraged by the numerous rumors and insinuations that circulate in the media. “I believe that we must relieve the tension that has developed around this situation. (…) Therapeutic tactics was chosen as optimal for the athlete’s condition, taking into account all indicators, ”he concluded.
Kostomarov was hospitalized on 10 January. He was diagnosed with left-sided pneumonia in combination with influenza B.
