In the second half of 2022, Raków Czêstochowa managed to extend the contracts of its leaders – Ivi Lopez, Vladan Kovacević or Fran Tudor, proving its great aspirations for the development of the club. On Tuesday, the inhabitants of Częstochowa informed about the new contract of their next important player.
Ben Lederman extended his contract with Raków until 2025
A new contract with Raków Częstochowa was signed by Ben Lederman, a 22-year-old midfielder of the Polish runners-up, who after a very good 2021/22 season was even tried on for the national team. The Los Angeles-born footballer joined the league leader until the end of June 2025.
After an excellent previous season, Lederman is unable to win a place in the starting XI of Marek Papszun’s team in the current competition. This negative turn for the midfielder from Częstochowa came after a shoulder injury, which eliminated him from the game for several weeks at the beginning of the season. He played less than 300 minutes in 11 league matches this season, but the new contract seems to be an expression of confidence in his football skills. In total, Lederman, appearing in Raków since 2019, can boast of 67 appearances in the Ekstraklasa (2 goals, 4 assists).
– This is a very important moment for me. Raków gave me a lot. I think I gave a lot to the club too. It’s a good relationship. I’ve made great progress here. The club is constantly developing and moving forward. I came here when I was nineteen. It’s been almost three years and I still feel good here – Ben Lederman told the official club media of Raków Częstochowa.
– Ben has made a lot of progress in the last three years and is still developing. He is very hardworking and ambitious. We hope that his on-field courage and creativity will give the fans a lot of joy. We are glad that he wants to take the next steps in his career in Raków and we believe that he has a great future ahead of him – added Robert Graf, sports director of Raków.
Raków Częstochowa is confidently leading after 20 rounds of the 2022/23 Ekstraklasa season. Marek Papszun’s team has scored 46 points and is seven ahead of the second Legia Warszawa and ten of the third Lech Poznań. In the next match, Raków will play Górnik Zabrze at their own stadium (Saturday, 17:30).
