AC Milan beats Tottenham to reach Champions League Round of 16

No San Siro, o Milan won the Tottenham, by 1 to 0, this Tuesday, in the first leg of the round of 16 of the Champions League and came out ahead in the search for the next phase. Brahim Díaz scored the only goal of the game.

The teams will meet again on March 8, at 5 pm (Brasília time), at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Before, however, the teams focus on their respective national tournaments. Tottenham duel with West Ham, this Sunday, at 13:30, for the 24th round of the English. Milan, on the other hand, plays Monza, on Saturday, at 2 pm, for the 23rd round of the Italian Championship.

The game

Milan opened the scoring in the sixth minute. Theo Hernández won the dispute with Cristian Romero, submitted and saw Forster make the save. Brahim Díaz then tried, but the goalkeeper avoided it once more. The number 10 insisted and headed towards the goal.

Afterwards, Tottenham arrived with a launch in the area, but the ball was calm for Tatarusanu to defend. The English team had another chance after Son’s free kick, but Milan’s defense calmly pulled away.

In the final stretch, Rafael Leão tried from the edge of the area and sent it over the goal. Before the first half ended, Tottenham almost equalized. Kane had the upper hand after saving Son’s kick. The ball hit the post and bounced over the line, but it didn’t go in.

The opening minutes of the second half repeated much of the first half and didn’t show much emotion. Even with changes aimed at a draw, Tottenham struggled to complete the moves well. Milan almost doubled in the 32nd minute after De Ketelaer headed close to the goal.

Then, the Italian team scared again with Thiaw, who received it from Rafael Leão and, with a header, sent it off near the post by Forster. Tottenham’s response followed. Richarlison set up for Pape Sarr, who sent it wide.
