Coach Paulo Sousa has been without a club since his departure from Flamengo, in June last year. This Tuesday, the Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano reported that the commander is close to closing with Salernitana, from Italy.
In the elite of Italian football, the team is in 16th place in the National League, with 21 points in 22 rounds, four behind Verona, the first club within the relegation zone. After an 8-2 thrashing against Atalanta, coach David Nicola was fired, being rehired after two days.

However, the coach should not remain in Salernitana. Thus, a possible replacement is Paulo Sousa, guarantees Fabrizio Romano. This would be the Portuguese’s second visit to Italy as coach. Between 2015 and 2017, he managed Fiorentina in 95 games, with 43 wins, 25 draws and 27 defeats. During this period, the highlight was fifth place in Série A 2015/16. After the poor performance in the 2016/17 season, the team chose not to renew with the commander.
At Flamengo, his spell was shorter. In 32 matches, there were 19 wins, seven draws and six defeats. During his time at the Rio club, he was runner-up in the Supercopa do Brasil and Campeonato Carioca, and, in the Campeonato Brasileiro, he left the team in 14th place.
