In the current season, Chelsea have been struggling to achieve good results and maintain a positive streak. At the English Championship that’s just eight wins in 22 games, in all competitions it’s just two wins in the last ten matches.
For the Champions League, the Londoners face the third place in the German Championship, Borussia Dortmund, unbeaten in eight games. About the confrontation, Potter asked to focus on each match individually and has experienced players for that.
“It’s not even worth looking beyond the Dortmund game. That doesn’t exist in our profession. There’s always a long term, but first we have to deal with the short and medium term to get there. The rest of the season will be challenging for us in terms of results. The most experienced players know this very well. And I’m talking about top professionals, who know football”, said the coach at a press conference.
In the January transfer window, Chelsea spent approximately 300 million euros (R$ 1.6 million) on reinforcements to reverse the bad moment. The English commander praised his squad, but did not rule out the quality of his rival.
“Of course it will be a tough game, against a high-class opponent. But, at the same time, our team has great players. We are going to Dortmund with humility and respect to try to get a result that interests us”, said the coach.
Wednesday’s duel will be the first time the two teams face each other in history. Both are looking for a victory to go into the return game with the advantage on the scoreboard.
