Jakub Janktoplayer of the Getafe 27 years old on loan at the sparta prague and international with the selection of Czech Republichas publicly revealed this Monday that it is homosexualbecoming the first LaLiga footballer to announce it, and has assured that he only wants to live his life “in freedom, without fear, without prejudice, without violence and with love.” He has done so through a video shared on social networks, and both Getafe, the club to which he belongs, and Sparta Prague, the entity in which he currently plays, have shown him their support.

Coming from Sampdoria, Jankto signed for Getafe in 2021. With the Madrid team he has played 14 LaLiga Santander games, due to injury, before returning to the Czech Republic in August 2022, after being loaned to Sparta Prague. As a Czech international, he has played 45 games and scored four goals; he participated in Euro 2020.
Sparta Prague has shown its support for the footballer. “Jakub Jankto spoke openly about his sexual orientation with the board of directors, the coach and his teammates at the club some time ago. Everything else is his personal life. No more comments, no more questions. You have our support. Live your life, Jakub. Nothing else matters”, has indicated Sparta Prague, in his official Twitter account.

In this way, Jankto becomes the first footballer to have played in LaLiga who reveals that he is gay. In October 2021, Australian footballer Josh Cavallo publicly announced his homosexuality, an initiative that he felt “happy” about and that he hoped he could serve as an example so that other footballers also take this step.
