With a field goal with eight seconds remaining, the Kansas City Chiefs beat the Philadelphia Eagles 38-35 on Sunday and won their third NFL Super Bowl title in a memorable performance by Patrick Mahomes.
The ‘quarterback’ played a large part of the final limited by an ankle injury but was able to lead the comeback in the second half of the Chiefs at State Farm Stadium in Glendale (Arizona).
With his two titles, Mahomes equals the likes of John Elway and Peyton Manning and, at just 27, he is shaping up to be the real deal to chase recently retired Tom Brady’s record seven.
Led by his figure Jalen Hurts, the Eagles had the victory very outlined at halftime when they dominated 24-14 and Mahomes retired to the locker room with grimaces of pain after relapsing from his right ankle injury.

Until that moment it was Hurts who clearly dominated the historic duel with Mahomes, the youngest pair of quarterbacks to face each other in a Super Bowl and the first of black quarterbacks.
But Mahomes stayed on the court and raised his level again in crunch time to lead the Chiefs to a second-half comeback capped by Harrison Butker’s 27-yard field goal with eight seconds left.
At the break “we all said we had to improve our game. The defense left its skin in the second part. Our attack found a way. I want to thank the whole team. We have fought,” declared a beaming Mahomes. (D)
