Kamila Valieva said she is awaiting an international trial in the doping case at the 2022 Games
Russian figure skater Kamila Valieva spoke about the doping investigation at the 2022 Olympics. Her words are available on Laysan Utyasheva’s YouTube channel.
“Still waiting, as there is still an international court to pass,” Valieva said and added that she could not say anything more about it yet.
On January 14, the Russian Anti-Doping Agency stripped Valieva of the gold medal of the 2022 Russian Championship. At the same time, the organization informed the World Anti-Doping Agency that the athlete did not violate anti-doping rules.
At the 2022 Olympics, Valieva won gold in the team competition, but the Russian team was not awarded due to a doping scandal with her participation. In the sample of the skater from December 2021, traces of the banned drug trimetazidine were found. At the same time, the Court of Arbitration for Sport allowed her to participate in the individual tournament, where she took fourth place.
