The second holiday of the year is the most anticipated by Ecuadorians. It is the holiday of Carnivalwhich this year takes place on Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 February. These days are combined with the weekend of Saturday 18 and Sunday 19 Februarycreating four days of rest in a row.
It is a time that citizens can take advantage of to go sightseeing, meet with family or friends, or relax from the workday. The two days of holidays are mandatory and are not recoverable, according to the Holidays Law.
At the end of December, the Ministry of Tourism announced the list of holidays that Ecuador will have between the years 2023 and 2025.
The Municipal Public Tourism Company of Guayaquil has already presented an agenda of recreational activities for the days of Carnival, which citizens who do not travel to other provinces can enjoy. The election of the Carnival Queen and several parades stand out.
After Carnival takes place the Ash Wednesday, which in 2023 falls on February 22. These days are also a preparation for Catholic Lent. (YO)
