Tretiak said that the budget in the field of sports by 2024 will be reduced to 56.7 billion rubles
President of the Russian Hockey Federation (FHR), State Duma deputy Vladislav Tretyak spoke about the multi-billion dollar budget cuts in the field of sports. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Tretiak said that at the moment the budget is 69.2 billion rubles, but by 2024 it will be reduced to 56.7 billion rubles. He stressed that the further construction of sports arenas will depend on funding.
In April 2022, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko announced the amount allocated to support domestic sports. He stated that more than 800 million rubles from the federal budget will go to the modernization and creation of new training bases.
At the end of February, many international sports organizations began to remove Russians from tournaments. In some disciplines, such as football, hockey, cross-country skiing and biathlon, athletes are completely excluded from competition. In chess, cycling and tennis, the Russians can continue playing in a neutral status.
