This is the position table of the South American tie after Ecuador’s victory over Venezuela

Brazil secured its presence in Qatar with a narrow victory over Colombia at home.

Brazil, true to history, this Thursday became the first South American classified World-2022 by beating 1-0 to Colombia, the eleventh consecutive home win in the World Cup, while for the same result Ecuador beat Venezuela to continue in the third step of the tie and Chile was one step below and in the discussion for a direct quota by beating Paraguay.

The seleçao lived up to its history by confirming perfect attendance at the World Cups after prematurely winning its ticket to Qatar, with 34 points, on the thirteenth date of the South American qualifier, five before the end.

With its 1-0 victory against Venezuela, Ecuador (20 points) escaped in a tight peloton in which Chile (16 points) advanced to fourth place in the tie, in the direct classification zone, displacing the playoffs by goal difference to Colombia (fifth) and Uruguay, which was left out of any option in the sixth step, both also with 16 points.

In the epilogue of the day this Thursday, Peru settled in the first half the lawsuit against Bolivia in Lima 3-0 with goals from Gianluca Lapadula (9 minutes), Cueva (31), Peña (39) and climbed from the second-to-last position (ninth) to the seventh step, although with minimal possibilities of discussing one of the four direct spots for the World Cup or going to a playoff if it is fifth.

On Friday, at the close of the 13th date, the historic Rio de la Plata Classic will be settled in Montevideo. Messi’s Argentina arrives on the rise with one foot in Qatar, although Uruguay will be a very difficult obstacle, even with its striker Edinson Cavani injured.
