Russian football player Pavel Mamaev has announced his retirement. His words are quoted by Match TV.
“I had a great summer with my wife and newborn son and realized that I was just tired. I want to be with my family more, ”the midfielder commented on the situation. He added that he had received several offers to move to Russian and foreign clubs, but nevertheless, at the end of August 2022, he decided to leave the sport.
34-year-old Mamaev is known for his performances for Torpedo, Rostov, Krasnodar and CSKA, with whom the football player became the champion of Russia and won the country’s Cup three times. The final club in the midfielder’s career was Khimki near Moscow, with whom he signed a contract in December 2021. From 2010 to 2016, the athlete also played 15 matches for the Russian national team.
In 2018, Mamaev, along with football player Alexander Kokorin and his younger brother Kirill, staged two fights in the center of Moscow. As a result of the incidents, the athletes were convicted and spent almost a year in prison.
