The ski jumping facility in Trondheim has already been completely renovated. The hills were reconstructed for the world championships that will be held in Norway in two years. The first jumpers and the first female jumpers are already jumping on the changed Granasen facilities. The example of Silje Opseth showed that it is possible to jump far there, but at the same time it can be very dangerous.
She screamed in fear during the flight
Opseth took off from the inrun of the normal hill in Trondheim (HS 105m) with quite high speed. From the beginning of the flight, she was carried by a strong wind to the skis. It was certain that it would exceed the size of the hill. She flew really far.
The Norwegian had a lift, but she shortened the jump from about 70 meters. She screamed loudly until she landed around 116-117. subway. She had to land on two legs, but she was forced to use her hands behind her back. Otherwise, there could have been a tragic fall. Opseth did not hide the shock and horror of the training jump.
– I think it’s a jump that shouldn’t have happened. I was going too fast, then I got a gust and swam. I was shocked when I got up and saw this distance. I felt fear of death. I was panicking. I thought I was going to land flat and break every bone. I felt terrified – confessed the Norwegian in an interview with NRK. She also added that she landed better than she suspected. Fortunately, she wasn’t injured.
I was able to land on two feet without hurting myself. I was quickly told that we were ending the training session. That’s not what coaches want. There was complete agreement that this should happen, she added in an interview with TV 2.
Recently, Opseth has been struggling with a crisis of form. She did not take well the failure at the World Cup in Hinterzarten, when she finished in the third ten in the first competition and did not make it to the final series in the second. Such terrifying jumps do not help her improve her form.
This season has been tumultuous for me. I have mixed feelings. My goal this year was to keep my form stable and to be at the top. I feel the exact opposite of that is happening.
In the general classification of the World Cup, Opseth ranks sixth with 634 points. She is 181 points behind Anna Odine, who is in third place.
Another dangerously long flight
Looking at Ospeth’s training jump, the story of Timi Zajc from last weekend in Willingen comes to mind, when he jumped as much as 161.5 meters in the mixed team competition. From the beginning he was flying very high above the landing. He tried to shorten the jump because he could land much further, over 170 or 180 meters, which was completely flat.
On the one hand, the jump was impressive, on the other hand, it was really dangerous and dangerous, it could have resulted in a nightmare injury to the Slovene. We wrote more about this jump.
