The Argentinian Leo Messi (PSG) and the French Karim Benzema (Real Madrid) and kylian mbappe (PSG) will be the final three applicants to win The Best award for the best player, FIFA confirmed this Friday.
The favorite theoretician to win the award is Leo Messi, who was key for his team to win the final of the Qatar World Cup 2022, the first in his record. Karim Benzema is emerging as the Rosario’s main rival after winning the Golden Ball. Finally, Mbappé was proclaimed runner-up in the world with his team, with eight goals in the World Cup.
In females, the Spanish Alexia Putellas (Barcelona), the English Beth Mead (Arsenal) and the American Alex Morgan (San Diego Wave) are the finalists for the best player award.
Alexia Putellas is one of the favorites after winning the award last year and also in the last two editions of the Golden Ball.
Finalist coaches
The coach of Real Madrid, Carlo Ancelottithe Manchester City coach, Pep Guardiola and the national coach of Argentina, lionel scalonihave been chosen as finalists for The Best awards.
Both the Italian coach, brand new winner of the Champions Leaguelike Catalan, winner of the Premier Leagueas well as the recent champion of the World Cup in Qatar 2022, aspire to succeed Thomas Tuchel in achieving this award.
For their part, Sonia Bompastor, coach of Olympique Lyon, Pia Sundhage, Brazil coach and Sarina Wiegman, her counterpart in the English team, appear on the list of finalists for the women’s category.
