Earlier this week, Turkey was hit by the largest earthquake in the country’s history. Its strength was to reach even 7.8 on the Richter scale. The tragedy has already caused the deaths of nearly 20,000 people and over 60,000 were injured. Many houses and other buildings were damaged. In this difficult moment, many famous footballers have offered to help Turkish citizens. Among them was a new Galatasaray player.

that Nicolo Zaniolo has signed a contract with Turkish side Galatasaray. Several dozen hours have not passed, and the Italian is already in Istanbul. The new club has not even had time to present the player yet, and he has already volunteered to do charity work for the victims of the earthquake. Galatasaray made the announcement on Twitter.

He is not the only player of the Turkish Super League leader who appeared in the club’s help center on Thursday. In addition to Zaniolo, help with the work was offered by, among others, Juan Mata and Sergio Oliveira. The footballers, together with other citizens, have already prepared 50 trucks with articles needed to help the victims, which set off to the disaster area.

Zaniolo moved to Galatasaray from Roma for €15 million. The player signed a 4.5-year contract, according to which he will earn less than 3 million euros per season. The Italian’s new club is the leader of the Turkish league with a nine-point advantage over second-placed Fenerbahce.
