The teams Euskaltel-Euskadi, Rural Box and Kern Pharma and several Basque riders from the UCI WorldTourlike the brothers Ion and Gorka Izagirre (Cofidis and Movistar, respectively), Jonathan Lastra (Cofidis) and Oier Lazkano (Movistar) are on the provisional list of participants of the Tour of the Region of Murciawhich is disputed this Saturday, February 11on a tour of 194.7 kilometers, in a single day.
The race, which reaches its 43rd edition, is scheduled to start in the town of San Javier and finish in Cartagena. The cyclists will have to overcome three mountain passes: the Cresta del Gallo, third category, at kilometer 39; the Collado Bermejo, in a special category, at kilometer 106; and Alto El Cedacero, of the third category, at kilometer 177, 17 from the finish line, which will be located in Parque Torres, with an ascent of just over a kilometer in which cyclists will find ramps that overcome the 15 %.
The Tour of the Region of Murcia also provides for three flying goals on its journey.
In the last edition, the winner was the Italian from UAE Team Emirates Alessandro Covi, who will try to repeat his victory on Saturday. In 2021, the Euskaltel-Euskadi cyclist Antonio Jesús Soto, a native of Murcia, was the one who took the victory; he will also be at the start line of the test.
