A tie is enough for the hosts to guarantee a direct seat to the Cup. On the same date, Ireland, which is not fighting for anything else, visits Azerbaijan.
Spain wins and takes the lead
In another game this Thursday, however, valid for group B, Spain defeated Greece, away from home, by 1-0, with a goal by Sarabia.
With the victory, Luis Enrique’s men took the lead, with 16 points, one more than Sweden. This Sunday, the two teams face off in the last round of the qualifiers. The Swedes need to win away from home to guarantee a direct spot at the Worlds.
Already classified, Germany applies 9-0 at home
Despite entering the field classified, Germany, playing at home, thrashed Liechtenstein by 9-0. Gundogan, Sané (2), Reus and Muller (2) were the authors of the goals – Kaufmann and Goppel scored against.
