Without Brazilians, Fifa announces finalist goalkeepers for The Best Award; check out

This Wednesday, the Fifa released the names of the finalist goalkeepers for the traditional The Best Award. The archers of men’s football are Thibaut Courtois, from Real Madrid, Yassine Bounou, from Sevilla, who stood out in the historic campaign of the Moroccan national team in Qatar Cupand Emiliano Martinez, world champion with Argentina and currently at Aston Villa, England.

In women’s football, the finalists are the German Ann-Katrin Berger, who plays for Chelsea, the English Mary Earps, from Manchester United, and the Chilean Christiane Endler, who plays for Lyon, France, and is the current winner of the award from category.

How are the finalists chosen?

Initially, five archers, chosen by a panel of experts, were nominated for the award. Among these five names, three are chosen as finalists based on a score given from the votes of national team coaches and captains, sports journalists and fans who voted on the entity’s website. In this way, the players with the highest score are selected.

Last year, Édouard Mendy, in the men’s category, and Christiane Endler, in the women’s category, were the winners of the best goalkeeper awards.

The finalists in other categories, such as ‘Best Coach’, ‘Best Female Coach’, ‘Best Player’, ‘Best Female Player’, Puskás Award (best goal of the year) will be announced soon.

The award winners will be announced at a ceremony taking place on February 27 in Paris.
