The Vice Minister of Mype and Industry, Javier Dávila Quevedo, affirmed that in the Minister council This Wednesday, February 8, the legal device that authorizes the granting of a S/500 bonus to artisanal fishermen, an initiative that has been promoted by the Ministry of Production (Produce), as part of its “Con Punche Productivo” plan.
“Today (Wednesday), the approval of that decree is under discussion, therefore, it could be published tomorrow or these days. At the same time, we are generating the list of beneficiaries. To do this, information is being extracted from the registry of the Producesof the regional governments and of the registration of entry and exit of the Port Captaincies”, advanced the official during his participation in the Foreign Trade Commission of the Congress of the republic.
Dávila Quevedo explained that the monetary subsidy, which will be delivered only once and exceptionally, will benefit about 36,000 formal artisanal fishermen. To comply with this measure, The Executive will allocate a budget of S/20 million.
Along these lines, the official hopes that the delivery of this S/500 bonus it does not take more than four weeks for its execution.
Another of the measures that will be promoted for the Fisheries sector is the budget increase of S/17 million for the expansion of credits through the National Fisheries Development Fund (fondepes), with the intention of doubling the amount of credits to be granted during this year 2023.
So, It is expected that by the end of this year close to 1,500 loans with low interest rates will be delivered.
