Kerzhakov called the appointment to the post of head coach of the Cypriot “Karmiotissa” a new challenge
Former football player of the Russian national football team Alexander Kerzhakov commented on the appointment of the head coach of the Cypriot club Karmiotissa. His words are quoted by Bobsoccer.
“This is the first international experience in my coaching career, I have accepted a new challenge. I hope this experience will be successful both for me and for the club, ”Kerzhakov said about his appointment to the European team. The specialist noted that he sets himself the task of winning every match and showing good football that the fans would like. His contract runs until the end of the 2022/2023 season with an extension option.
Kerzhakov also talked about communicating with Russian forward Alexander Kokorin, who plays in the Cypriot Aris. “Sasha and I are in touch, we talked both before my appointment and after. We haven’t seen each other yet – my family and I just arrived in Cyprus – but we will definitely see you!” he added.
Earlier on Wednesday, February 8, the Cypriot club announced the appointment of a Russian as head coach. In the social networks of “Karmiotissa” they published a video in which young Kerzhakov looks at the video with his goals.
Kerzhakov is a three-time Russian champion with Zenit and the top scorer of the national team. After retiring in 2017, he coached the Tom and Nizhny Novgorod clubs, as well as the Russian youth team.
