In his presentation, the coach showed that he was honored to be chosen for the position: “I had good feelings during the first conversations with the federation’s officials and I realized that we have common goals. I’m very motivated and can’t wait to get to work.”
Tedesco’s last team was RB Lepizig, where he was fired in September 2022. Before that, the 37-year-old coach had spells at Schalke 04, Germany, and Spartak Moscow, Russia. He will replace Roberto Martinez, who managed the Belgians at the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.
Tedesco’s first task will be to classify his team for Euro 2024, which will be played on German soil. The commander’s official debut is scheduled for March 24, when his team visits Sweden in the continental tournament qualifiers.
