Russia did not receive points in the UEFA ranking for the 2022/2023 season, despite the decision of the executive committee
Russia dropped from 18th to 23rd place in the ranking of the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) for the 2022/2023 season. Information is available on the organization’s website.
Over the past five years, domestic clubs have received 21,882 points. At the same time, Russia was left without points for the current season. This happened despite the decision of the UEFA Executive Committee, announced on May 2, according to which the country should have been awarded 4.333 points, that is, the lowest of the coefficients scored in the last five seasons.
Thus, if Russia had received the promised points, it would have had 26.215 points on its account and would have remained in 18th place in the rating.
On February 28, 2022, the International Football Federation and UEFA excluded Russian teams and clubs from international tournaments. The teams do not play in European competitions, and the Russian team has lost the opportunity to compete for reaching the finals of the 2022 World Cup.
