Fatal news from Willingen. Stoch made the worst jump of the season. Without Poles in “10”

Saturday’s competition was won by Halvor Egner Granerud, and the podium was completed by Anze Lanisek and Dawid Kubacki. Before Sunday’s competition, there were qualifications waiting for the jumpers, the start of which was scheduled for one and a half hours before the actual competition. The weather conditions were not good, because in Willingen the competitors were hindered by thick fog. However, the qualification was successfully carried out, and there were five Poles in the competition.

Five Poles qualified for the competition. No promotion of Kamil Stoch

The first Pole on the starting line was Jakub Wolny. A jump of 110.5 meters secured him the 39th place in the competition, because many competitors did not even exceed one hundred meters. After a series of bad jumps, it was time for Aleksander Zniszczoła, who landed on the 120th meter and qualified for the first round of the competition without any problems, taking 31st place. Paweł Wąsek jumped 117.5 meters, which gave him the 39th place and promotion to the competition.

The weather conditions improved, which contributed to many jumps in which competitors exceeded 130 meters. The judges repeatedly changed the bar from ninth, to eighth and tenth. After many changes, the time came for Kamil Stoch, who jumped 100.5 meters in poor conditions. A disastrous performance did not ensure him participation in the competition and placed him only in 51st place. Piotr Żyła did much better with 130 meters and was ranked 12th. Dawid Kubacki reached 130 meters, which finally gave him the 11th place.

The winner of the qualification turned out to be Halvor Egner Granerud, who landed on the 140th meter. One and a half meters later, Daniel Andre Tande landed second, and Domen Prevc, one meter later, landed third.

Sensationally advanced to the competition m.in. Simon Amman and Romanian Daniel Andrei Cacina.
