Ma³ysz reacts to the great success of Polish ski jumpers. “I can see a lot of progress”

At the halfway point of the competition in Canada, the Poles were on par with the Austrians. The fact that both teams will compete with each other for the title of world champions was known basically from the beginning of the event in Whistler. And in fact, the assumptions turned out to be correct.

Poles with the first team medal of the World Championships in nine years. “I can see a lot of progress”

The level from the first round changed slightly in the second round, where the Poles missed a few meters and finally lost 5.8 points to the Austrians. They defended the gold from last year, but Marcin Wróbel, Klemens Joniak, Kacper Tomasiak and Jan Habdas became the first team medalists of the World Championships since 2014.

Then Jakub Wolny, Klemens Murańka, Krzysztof Biegun and Aleksander Zniszczoł won in Predazzo, but for the next eight editions of the Junior World Championships in the team, Poland did not receive a single medal: it took a maximum of fifth place, which was also won a year ago at Średnia Krokiew in Zakopane . – There is a lot of progress. We remember what happened in Zakopane and a lot has changed since then. Those vintages that started in Whistler seem really strong – says Adam Ma³ysz in an interview with Sport.pl.

Małysz: “Now you have to lead them well.” The PZN is already doing this

The president of PZN knows what will be most important in the context of the future of this group of players. – Now you have to lead them well, because we remember that we already had a few medalists and even junior world champions, and in recent times it was bad. Now you can see that we have good vintages again, and the programs in cooperation with Lotos and now Orlen work. Keep it up – the legend of Polish jumping is happy.

What to do to ensure that the development of Wróbel, Joniak, Tomasiak or Szozda proceeds appropriately? Don’t push them, give them a break, don’t put too much pressure on them and approach the training system very individually and carefully. The latter is already implemented by PZN, because it tries to match the loads to the players as much as possible, and at the same time provide them with classes and polishing their form at the highest possible level. It’s a road not to have World Cup stars in a year or two, but the perspective of even five or ten years. So patience will be key above all else.

For now, the Polish players still have a mixed team competition at the World Championships ahead of them, and then return to everyday work at trainings in the country. Further starts in international competitions await them in the FIS Cup and Continental Cup competitions in the country – the former will take place in Szczyrk and Zakopane, and the latter only at Wielka Krokiew.
