He IDK Euskotren has emerged victorious from the Basque derby played this saturday against Lointek Gernika Bizkaia (66-98) in the match corresponding to the 20th day of the Endesa Women’s League in the Maloste field.
The beginning of the game has been very even. The visiting team has taken the initiative, but the locals were playing at home and this has been noticed on the field, since they returned each basket that the rival scored to end the first quarter with a minimum difference (22-27).
In the second quarter, the people from Gernika showed their desire to score points at home and managed to turn the score around, even if only for a short time, to reach half-time with the score level (41-41).
But that’s where the game ended for the locals. The IDK has taken control of the game based on triples to start the climb with a partial 0-16. By the time the third quarter ended, the difference was already 22 points (52-74).
The last quarter has been more of the same. The people from San Sebastián wanted to seal the victory and have not given any opportunity to get closer to Lointek, which has given everything until the last moment wrapped up in the heat of Maloste.
In the end, 66-98 in favor of IDK Euskotren which leaves the women from Gipuzkoa in tenth place in the table. Lointek Gernika Bizkaia, above, is sixth in the standings.
