The return of the Polish national team after years? There is a reserve stadium for PGE Narodowy

The friendly match between Poland and Chile before the World Cup was to take place at PGE Narodowy. However, it turned out that the building had a damaged roof and the meeting was moved to the Legia Warszawa stadium. Originally, PGE Narodowy was to be commissioned after two weeks, but the decision was postponed to February 5. . In the event of a failure, PZPN had already selected a reserve stadium for the upcoming match against Albania.

Poland – Albania at a different stadium? Possible return to Gdańsk after 2.5 years

Work and consultations with experts from Switzerland and Germany are underway at the PGE national stadium. The damaged part of the roof has been reinforced, but it is not known whether fans will be able to enter the stadium. The decision will probably be made next week and PZPN is preparing for all circumstances.

– Every option is possible at the moment. We want to play the match in Warsaw at PGE Narodowy, because it is the home of the Polish national team. For us, it is always the stadium of the first choice, but we may have no other choice and we may be forced to play the match at another facility – admitted the secretary general of PZPN, Łukasz Wachowski, in an interview with the portal.

In the event of a failure with PGE Narodowy, the federation was to choose another facility. It’s about Polsat Plus Arena in Gdańsk. The stadium where Lechia Gdańsk plays its matches has not hosted matches for a long time. The last time the team played there was in October 2020 as part of the League of Nations against Italy. The match ended with the score 0:0.

– Of course, we want to make a decision as soon as possible, because it’s not only about choosing a stadium, but also organizing a training camp, confirming hotels or booking training pitches. Also, the Albanian federation must plan its stay with us – argues PZPN spokesman Jakub Kwiatkowski.
