The game
Just after 4 minutes of the first stage, the ball hit the hand of defender Hughes and the judge signaled a penalty. In the kick, Bruno Fernandes moved the goalkeeper and opened the scoring for United.
The rest of the first half was dominated by Manchester United, who pressed Crystal Palace with and without the ball, but were unable to convert their moves into goals, largely due to goalkeeper Guaita, who had a great performance in the first 45 minutes.
In the 18th minute of the second half, in a beautiful exchange of passes, Garnacho passed Luke Shaw who crossed low for Rashford, in the small area, just touching the goal and extending United’s advantage.
At 20 minutes, Casemiro was expelled after confusion generated by Schlupp’s hard tackle on Antony.
Crystal Palace took advantage of the Brazilian’s expulsion and launched an attack. In the 30th minute, DoucourĂ© took the first shot after a corner kick. Schlupp deflected the shot and scored for the visitors.
Manchester United closed and saw their opponent create more chances to score, to tie the match. Crystal Palace, however, abused the aerial crosses in the penalty area and had their offensive initiatives neutralized by the defense of the home team.
