The president of Bayern Munich, Oliver Kahn, did not fail to react to Neuer’s words. “What Manuel said in parts of these two interviews in connection with the sacking of Toni Tapalovic does not befit him as a captain or fit with Bayern’s values,” Kahn thundered, quoted by Bild. “Also, his statements come at the wrong time because we have very important games ahead of us.

– He is personally affected, you have to understand that to some extent. We knew this, explaining to him that the decision about the goalkeeping coach, which was not taken lightly, was the best for our team at the moment – Oliver Kahn gently excused his goalkeeper, but then added:

– In 2004, as a representative of the country, I encountered a similar situation. Our goalkeeping coach, Sepp Maier, felt badly treated by the German DFB and parted ways with the team. I have worked with Sepp for years, we had a friendly and trusting relationship. I was also disappointed and angry at the DFB at the time. But common goals were in the foreground for me. They were more important to me than my personal feelings. And that’s why I chose not to speak in public at that time. Manuel has now done the opposite,” said the former Bayern and Germany goalkeeper.

According to “Bilda”, Neuer faces at least a financial penalty for giving these unauthorized interviews by the club. “We will talk to him very strongly about this,” Kahn said.
