Climbs to Etna and the mythical Mortirolo are part of the high mountain stages that are considered to define the general classification of the Corsa Rosa.

The 2022 edition of Giro d’Italia to be held from May 6 to 29 will include in your tour 6 mountain stages with 4 high finishes, as revealed this Wednesday by the organization of the pink race.

There will be six days that will decide the general classification of the test, which will finish announcing its complete route this Thursday with the stage of the last stage.

These are the “key increases”, indicated the organization, for a set of mountain stages that will include the ascent to Etna and the mythical Mortirolo that make up a “very tough” route, according to Colombian Egan Bernal, the last winner of the pink jersey.

“With these six high mountain stages it is clear that the 2022 Giro d’Italia will be very tough. The first high finish on Etna will be important and will make differences in the general among those who are not 100% fit during the first week of the race ”, commented Bernal.

“Then there will be mythical climbs like the Mortirolo, where great champions have written important chapters in the history of cycling, runners like Pantani and many others ”, said the Colombian runner. (D)

Ponte Di Legno-Lavarone. 165 kilómetros – 3740 metros

Belluno – Marmolada (Passo Fedaia). 167 kilometers – 4490 meters
