Mexican actor Iñaki Godoy will star in the adaptation with live action and flesh and blood characters of the successful manga and anime One Piece which Netflix is preparing.
The digital platform announced yesterday in a statement that Godoy will give life in this series to the character of Monkey D. Luffy.
The young Mexican has previously appeared in series such as Who Killed Sara? (2021) and in movies like Courage, youth! (2020).
“What emotion to share with you this news and what pride to be Mexican. I’M GOING TO BE THE KING OF PIRATES !!! ”, he wrote on his Instagram account. “I’m going to give him all the desire in the world,” he added.
Godoy will be accompanied in the cast of One Piece por Mackenyu (Roronoa Zoro), Emily Rudd (Nami), Jacob Romero Gibson (Usopp) y Taz Skylar (Sanji).
The Japanese Eiichiro Oda, who is the creator of the manga One Piece which later gave rise to the anime series of the same name, appears as executive producer of this new project.
“We have decided on this cast after many discussions with people from all over the world!” Said Oda.
“It will take us a little longer to make this series, but we will continue to do everything possible to deliver a show that we are sure everyone will enjoy! ”he added.
The story of One Piece follow in Luffy’s footsteps on his adventures with a group of pirates.
The manga began editing in 1997 and the series premiered in 1999.
