Supported by the crowd, Flamengo embarks for the World Cup; see related list

O Flamengo left this Thursday night for Morocco, where he is seeking his second world championship. The bus with the delegation left the CT of Ninho do Urubu, in Vargem Grande, shortly after 7 pm (Brasília time), in the arms of the crowd, and arrived at Tom Jobim International Airport, Galeão, around 9 pm.

Near the airport, the bus passed through a large crowd of fans. On the way, some lit flares to support the team. Also in the surroundings, others got on the bus with pole flags.

To avoid agglomeration, the club entered through the Galeão cargo terminal to board the flight to Morocco. The disembarkation of the delegation in Casablanca is scheduled for this Friday morning.

Before the trip, Vítor Pereira’s team was committed to the Carioca Championship. Rubro-negro beat Boavista 1-0 on Wednesday night, with a goal by Pedro.

In its last participation in the Club World Cup, Flamengo lost the decision to Liverpool by 1 to 0, in 2019. The only world title for the red-black team came in 1981, when it beat Liverpool by 3 to 0.

Flamengo debuts in the World Cup this Tuesday, at 4 pm (Brasília time), in Tanger. Coach Vítor Pereira’s team makes the semifinal against Al Hilal or Wydad Casablanca, who are disputing the vacancy on Saturday, at 11:30 am.
