Shocking facts about Materla’s detention have been revealed. “Prosecutor Nowicka’s victim”

Let us recall: in December 2016, Michał Materla was detained by officers of the Central Police Investigation Bureau. He was suspected of participating in an organized armed criminal group dealing in drug trafficking. Although months have passed since his arrest, the prosecutor’s office has not presented him with an indictment. Finally, after eight months in detention, Materla was released on bail. But we only learned the finale of this story at the end of December 2022.

“The District Prosecutor’s Office in Poznań, by an appropriate decision, discontinued the criminal case against me for over six years in its entirety. All charges against me were legally discontinued. Let me remind you that as a result of the prosecutor’s actions, and then the court’s decision, I was placed in a detention center in Poznań for almost eight months. Initially, I was in the ward for dangerous prisoners, in a single cell. The whole thing was incomprehensible to me from the beginning, but there will be time to write about it. In the current situation, I am very happy that the truth has been able to come out defend. […] Thanks to my brother Norbert, who never accepted the decision of the investigating prosecutor and tried to successfully draw the attention of numerous human rights organizations to the enormity of irregularities and abuses in the investigation against me. All actions taken against me by prosecutor Agnieszka Nowicka should never have taken place. Unfortunately, no one will undo the tears and stress of my loved ones or give us back the lost time “- wrote Materla on Instagram. Now new facts of this story have been made public.

“Wyborcza” brought the details of this case closer

They show that prosecutor Agnieszka Nowicka relied solely on the unproven story of one criminal. The investigation began in November 2015, when the police detained Zbigniew K., ps. “Blacksmith”.

“Nowicka put him in custody, but a month and a half later she released him herself. It was a reward, because in return for the promise of mitigating the sentence, ‘Kowal’ began to talk about various crimes. One of them was to smuggle two and a half kg of cocaine from the island of Aruba “Kowal” already gave the names of the alleged accomplices at that time. However, he never mentioned Materla. “Remembered” about him only in June 2016, when the police officers cooperating with Nowicka took him to Kołobrzeg. During the trial experiment, he pointed to the disco building and stated that he brought drugs here. According to his account, one of the bodyguards of the premises was Micha³ Materla. ‘Kowal’ added that Materla was collecting drugs here from a certain Tomasz K.” – writes Piotr Żytnicki in the reportage of “Wyborcza”.

“Kowal” claimed that he was selling smuggled drugs, among others Materli, who was supposed to be the goalkeeper of one of the clubs. The MMA fighter was to pick up 50-100 grams of cocaine to further trade.

“Nowicka was enough. She did not ask for details. Materla’s name also appears once in the report from November 2016. ‘Kowal’ was supposed to recognize him in one of the photos shown by the police. He said it was ‘the one who once stood at the gate’ ‘ in a disco. A month later, Nowicka sent anti-terrorists to Materla. She did not verify the words of ‘Kowal’, although slander should be approached with extreme caution. ‘Kowal’, as one of the suspects, had the right to lie with impunity, “we read in the report.

The lawyers of the KSW star tried to save him, but the courts rejected the defenders’ complaints. Although the judges wrote that the evidence was poor, the player was still held in custody. The situation improved only when the investigation was taken over by the National Prosecutor’s Office, which realized that the allegations were far-fetched.

“In 2018, prosecutor Jacek Szymanowski, who was cleaning up after Nowicka, cleared Materla of the allegation of participation in an armed criminal group. He stated that there were no grounds for making such an accusation. (…) The investigation dragged on for more than four years, prosecutors “They changed several times. Our informants suggested that protracting the case was a deliberate procedure – discontinuation of the investigation would open the way for Materla to sue the state treasury for gigantic compensation and compensation,” we read in “Wyborcza”.

Prosecutor Szymanowski, who later led the case, stated that there was no credible evidence that Materla had been dealing drugs, even in small amounts. Ba! There was no evidence that Materla ever worked as a security guard at the club. From the report we also learn that the MMA fighter was neither the first nor the only victim of prosecutor Nowicka.
