Athletic encourages all goalkeepers to wear black for Iribar’s 80th birthday

The Athletic Club has encouraged all and all goalkeepers to wear black in their matches first weekend of march (days 3, 4 and 5), on the occasion of the 80th birthday of José Ángel Iribar, which will be the 1st of that same month. Specifically, the Bilbao entity has sent a letter to its 167 clubs agreed to propose that their goalkeepers wear black clothing on the first day of March, like the one Iribar used to wear, and has extended that invitation “to every club and goalkeeper who wants to have a gesture of recognition” with the legendary goalkeeper from Zarauz.

Athletic’s initiative, which the Biscayan club also frames in the context of celebrating its 125th anniversary, includes the creation of the tag #Iribar80so that, through social networks, any club and any goalkeeper in the world, “regardless of the category or the place of the competition”, joins this recognition.
