Iñaki Alonso is the new coach of Deportivo Saprissa, the Costa Rica’s most awarded team. The club announced this Wednesday the signing of the Basque coach who replaces the dismissed Mauricio Wright.
Alonso, former coach of Lemoa, Real Unión, Real Murcia, Huracán, Compostela, La Hoya Lorca, NK Rudes and Juvenil A from Alavés, has signed with the Costa Rican club until May 2022.
Deportivo Saprissa is one of the most successful teams in the North, Central American and Caribbean Football Confederation (Concacaf), of which it has been champion 3 times. What’s more, is the most winning club in his country with 36 local titles. At present it is the current champion of Costa Rica and in the 2021 Apertura Tournament he marches in fourth position of the standings with 28 points in 19 games, behind Herediano (36), Alajuelense (32) and Santos (30).
