At 20 minutes of the first half, Mbappé received a knock on the thigh when he was fouled and had to leave the field, giving way to young Hugo Ekitike.
Television cameras showed the French striker placing his hand on his left thigh, in a typical muscle injury gesture, as he left for the locker room.
Earlier, Mbappé had missed two penalties: the first saved in the right corner by goalkeeper Benjamin Lecompte (8′).
In the second, two minutes later, he chose the other corner, but Lecompte jumped again to the right side and managed to deflect the ball, which then still hit the crossbar. On the rebound, the number 7 kicked over the goal.
Already in the 30th minute of the game, it was the Spanish defender Sergio Ramos who had to be substituted after being hit in the head.
