Ecuador held its first full-team training session at the Athens Olympic Complex, venue for the series against Greece for the playoffs World Group I, to be played on February 4 and 5.

This was the first time that he trained at the venue of the event, since since the Monday he arrived in Athens he has been preparing in a private club, located 30 minutes from the main stage.

Raúl Viver, captain of the national team, focused on specific work with doubles players Gonzalo Escobar (43 ATP doubles) and Diego Hidalgo (93 ATP doubles), who played a few days ago at the Australian Open.

The Skinny Viver still analyzes the two singles that will face the series. Of the three singles called up, Andrés Andrade (564 ATP singles), Álvaro Guillén (731) and Cayetano March (859), the latter is the only one who has played Davis Cup matches; he played two games: the first in 2019 against Venezuela, with a victory over Luis Martínez 6-7 (3), 7-5, 10-4; and in 2022 against France, with a defeat against Benjamín Bonzi 6-0, 6-2.

The team’s training sessions also focus on physical preparation and rehabilitation, with the collaboration of Camilo Chiquito (doctor) and Ramiro Cocina (physiotherapist), who are part of the delegation in several Davis Cup series.

This Wednesday, the organization of the tournament confirmed that 12,000 tickets have been sold for the two days of the series. The capacity of the sports arena is 20,000 people.

On Friday, February 3, the draw for the matches of singles and doubles. On Saturday from 05:00 (Ecuador time) the first match of singles (two are played), and on Sunday it will be played from 04:00, starting with the doubles to continue with the two singles. (D)
