At the age of 55, Japan’s Kazuyoshi Miura, a player who played for the Santosannounced this Wednesday that he signed a contract to play for Oliveirense, in the second division of Portugal.
“I want to work hard to show everyone the kind of game I’m known for,” Miura said in a statement published by Yokohama FC, the Japanese second division club that loaned him to Oliveirense.

“King Kazu”, as he is known in Japan, began his career in 1986 at Peixe and played 37 seasons as a professional, also passing through Japan, Italy, Croatia and Australia.
In November, Yokohama’s ownership group acquired a majority stake in Oliveirense.
At the Portuguese club, Miura will be joined by Christian Kendji Wagatsuma Ferreira, a Brazilian of Japanese origin also nicknamed Kazu.
Miura, who turns 56 in February, has said he wants to play until he’s 60.
