The pivot of the Bidasoa Irun Ander Ugarte will leave the club and practice handball at the end of this season 2022-23, as announced this Wednesday by the player and the irundarra entity. Ugarte, in his career, has played, so far, 291 games in the ASOBAL League, in which he has played for six teams, including Bidasoa, where he started playing and where he will retire at 33 years, and has been the author of 794 goals.
A youth and junior international with the Spanish national team, Ugarte, who is from Irundarra, has belonged, in addition to Bidasoa, to Valladolid, Anaitasuna, Huesca, Antequera and Ademar. The player has publicly thanked the support received during his long career, and is confident that, in the months that remain in active play, he will be able to experience “an exciting second round”, in which he will give “everything, to achieve the objectives and try to carry the team to the top”.
The departure of Ugarte adds to the end of the career of Julen Aginagalde, who combines his last year in active service with the Sports Management of Bidasoa Irun.
