Another European football club refused to play with the Russian team

Romanian “Otselul” refused a friendly match with “Yenisei” an hour before the start of the game

Romanian “Ocelul” refused a friendly match with the club of the First League “Yenisei” during the training camp in Turkey. This was reported by the head coach of the Russian team Alexei Ivakhov in Telegram.

Ivakhov said that the opponent abandoned the game an hour before it started. “A week ago, a contract was signed with the opposing team to hold a friendly match. The team from Romania traveled 70 kilometers from the city of Side to our field in Antalya, entered the field and prepared for the pre-match warm-up,” he said. The coach noted that then “Otselulu” received a call from the Romanian Football Federation with a warning about deducting points in the national championship for the game with the Russians, after which the rivals left the field.

On January 24, the Danish Vejle refused to play with CSKA Moscow. Earlier, another team, the Bulgarian Levski, changed its mind about holding matches with Ural and Spartak. The club noted that they made such a decision under pressure from the public and fans.

On February 28 last year, the International Football Federation and the Union of European Football Associations excluded Russian teams and clubs from international tournaments. Domestic teams do not play in European competitions, and the Russian team has lost the opportunity to compete for reaching the finals of the 2022 World Cup.
