Jude Hull, son of American hockey player Brett Hull, in Twitter praised the achievement of the Russian striker of the Washington Capitals club Alexander Ovechkin, who came in fourth in the number of goals in the National Hockey League (NHL).
The former athlete posted a video of Ovechkin’s abandoned puck, which allowed him to climb to fourth place in the sniper race, and attached three downward thumbs emoji to it. He later wrote: “In Russia, will you not support your father and be disappointed when his achievement is beaten? I understand correctly?”
He added that his negative assessment caused a reaction among Russian fans.
On November 9, Ovechkin climbed to the fourth most goalscorer in the NHL in league history with a goal in a regular season match against the Buffalo Sabers. The athlete has now scored 741 goals. Ovechkin and Hull currently have the same number of goals, but the American needed more matches to achieve this achievement.
The NHL’s all-time top scorer is center-forward Wayne Gretzky with 894 goals, Gordy Howe with 801 goals and Jaromir Jagr with 766 goals.
