Tarasova said Duhamel’s call for a boycott of the 2024 Olympics because of the Russians has no value
Honored coach of the USSR in figure skating Tatyana Tarasova responded to the Canadian Olympic champion Megan Duhamel, who called for a boycott of the 2024 Olympic Games if the Russians were admitted. Her words are quoted by Sport24.
Tarasova said that Duhamel’s statements have no value. She called the Canadian an evil, stupid and crazy person because of the call for a boycott of the Olympics. “She thinks her opinion is important for the whole world, but it’s not,” the specialist emphasized.
On January 29, Duhamel assessed the threat of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Ukraine to boycott the 2024 Games in Paris if the Russians were admitted. She felt that more countries should follow suit.
On January 25, the International Olympic Committee announced that it was considering the possibility of individual admission to competitions for Russian and Belarusian athletes. After that, the head of the NOC of Ukraine, Vadim Gutzeit, said that the national team could miss the 2024 Olympics if the teams of Russia and Belarus participate in it.
The Olympic Games are to be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024 in Paris.
