A quartet can be many things, but in the Carnival of Cádiz it is something very specific: it is one of the four carnival groups that participate every year in the official Carnival contest, the least numerous in terms of members. Although its name may be misleading, the truth is that quartets are not necessarily made up of four peoplebut can range from a minimum of three to a maximum of five.
The quartets of the Carnival of Cádiz are usually accompanied by few instruments (whistles, claves or güiros, sometimes a guitar) and their repertoire is made up of parody, cuplés and free theme.
