Boxer Dmitry Bivol said that in the US it is easier for him to find a sparring partner than in Russia
The world champion according to the World Boxing Association (WBA), Russian Dmitry Bivol explained the refusal to prepare for fights in Russia. His words are quoted by RBC.
The athlete noted that he spends a significant part of his time in California. “It’s easier to find sparring partners, because here [в Калифорнию] boxers come from all over the world, the exchange of experience is always going on. It is easier than in St. Petersburg to prepare for me, ”he said.
Bivol also talked about the differences between training in Russia and the USA. “I really like the weather, the atmosphere in the boxing gyms. Unlike ours, the guys there really come to fight, ”the athlete added.
On January 13, the American magazine The Ring recognized Bivol as the 2022 Boxer of the Year. 32-year-old Bivol became the second Russian in history after Sergey Kovalev to receive this award.
On the night of November 6, Bivol defeated Gilberto Ramirez by unanimous decision at a boxing evening in Abu Dhabi and defended his WBA world title. In total, he has 21 wins and no losses.
