Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas called for the complete isolation of Russian athletes
Estonian Prime Minister Kaja Kallas on her Facebook page (a social network banned in Russia; owned by the Meta corporation, which is recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation and banned) called for the complete isolation of Russian athletes.
The politician said that every sports competition with the participation of Russians is used by Russian propaganda to show the illusory nature of the boycott of the country. She called Russia’s possible admission to the 2024 Olympics in Paris hypocritical and spineless. Kallas called on other governments to support the removal of the Russians.
On January 26, the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA) invited Russian and Belarusian athletes to take part in the Asian Games. The competition will be held from September 23 to October 8, 2023 in Hangzhou, China.
A day earlier, the International Olympic Committee announced that it was considering the possibility of individual admission to competitions for Russian and Belarusian athletes. It is clarified that only athletes who did not support the conduct of a special operation in Ukraine and did not violate anti-doping rules will be able to get permission to compete in international tournaments.
The Paris Olympic Games are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
