The NOC of China supported the admission of Russia to international competitions

The National Olympic Committee (NOC) of China advocated the admission of Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions. It is reported by Xinhua.

“The decision on the participation of athletes should be made on the basis of their sports performance and without the interference of political and military factors,” said the representative of the NOC of China. The organization added that sport should be a link that unites the world.

On January 27, the NOC of Norway opposed the admission of Russia to international tournaments. “In the current situation, this is not right, and we strongly recommend not to do this,” they said, drawing attention to the fact that most Olympic committees have begun work on the return of the Russians.

On January 25, the International Olympic Committee announced that it was considering the possibility of individual admission to competitions for Russian and Belarusian athletes. It is clarified that only athletes who did not support the conduct of a special military operation in Ukraine and did not violate anti-doping rules will be able to get permission to compete in international tournaments.
