Spanish cakes are extremely easy to prepare, and you only need four basic ingredients to make a light as a cloud cake with them. This recipe will make about 20 Viennese donuts. What will be necessary?
Ingredients for the cake:
- 250 ml of water,
- 200 g of wheat flour (it is best to use cake flour type 450),
- 100 g of butter,
- 4 eggs,
- Additionally: a pinch of salt, oil for frying.
Ingredients for the frosting:
- 150 g of sifted powdered sugar,
- 2 tablespoons of lemon or orange juice.
How to make Viennese donuts? Quick step-by-step execution
- Prepare the steamed dough. Place the water, butter and salt in the pan and bring the ingredients to a boil. Now pour the flour into the pot and stir the mass vigorously with a rod. When it is uniform (starts to pull away from the walls of the pot), remove it from the burner and leave it to cool down completely.
- Mix the cooled dough and add the eggs one at a time so that all the ingredients combine. Transfer the icing to a pastry bag with the cut-out star tip. Cut out 20 squares of baking paper and place dough circles on each of them.
- In a wide pot, heat the oil to 180 degrees Celsius. Put the dough on it with the baking paper side up, and after a minute take it off. Fry the Viennese donuts for 3 minutes, then turn them over and cook for another 4 minutes.
- Prepare the icing if you want. Mix the sifted powdered sugar with lemon or orange juice. Pour it over the cooled donuts.
