The Ukrainian Football Association accused Russian clubs of circumventing FIFA and UEFA bans

The Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) accused Russian clubs of circumventing the bans imposed by the International Football Federation (FIFA) and the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA). It is reported by The Athletic.

The Ukrainian side was outraged by the friendly matches against foreign teams that clubs from Russia hold at the training camp in Turkey. “Despite the fact that the games have an unofficial status, we consider the fact that they are held as a violation of the isolation of Russian sports,” said UAF spokesman Alexander Glyvinsky.

On January 24, a meeting was held with the participation of representatives of Russia and UEFA. The RFU said that the parties agreed on the procedure for further cooperation on the return of Russian teams and clubs to international competitions and agreed to continue contacts.

On February 28, FIFA and UEFA excluded Russian teams and clubs from international tournaments. The teams do not play in European competitions, and the Russian team has lost the opportunity to compete for reaching the finals of the 2022 World Cup.
