Paul Pogba, injured for two months due to a muscle tear

The French midfielder was injured on Monday when he fired a shot during Bleus training in Clairefontaine.

French midfielder Paul Pogba will be unavailable for the next two months due to a muscle injury to his right thigh, so he will be out with France for the two knockout games and with Manchester United, L’Equipe reports on Tuesday.

The 28-year-old was injured this Monday when he fired a shot during the training of the Blues in Clairefontaine. Pogba left the training ground limping, accompanied by the French team doctor, AFP journalists confirmed.

The former Juventus player will not be able to be like this in the meeting that Didier Deschamps’ team will play on Saturday in Paris against Kazakhstan, the bottom of a group D classification led by the ‘Bleus’ with 12 points in six games.

In case of victory, the current world champion would qualify to revalidate his title next year in Qatar. Failing that, France would have one last chance in Helsinki against Finland on Tuesday next week.

To replace Pogba, Deschamps has called up Roma midfielder Jordan Veretout, who will join the French squad on Tuesday.

For his part, he will not be available for the club in the important games that he will have to face in the Champions League against Villarreal and Young Boys. The team led by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has not yet assured his qualification to the second round, so it will be a sensitive loss for the Norwegian. (D)
